Dick Smith Foods sells Australian-grown foods. Smith is a lefty, but when it comes to halal foods, he gets it.

Larry Pickering has the story:
We have received a number of letters from people asking if we will be putting the Muslim Halal logo on our food.
To acquire Halal certification, payment is required to the endorsing body and involves a number of site inspections of both our growers and processors in order to ensure that our practices comply with the conditions of Halal certification. It is important to note that this does not reflect the quality of the food being processed or sold – it only means that the products are approved as being prepared in accordance with the traditions of the Muslim faith.
We are aware of an increasing number of large companies both in Australia and overseas, such as Kraft and Cadbury, who have obtained accreditation to use the Halal logo. We don’t believe they have done this because of any religious commitment but rather for purely commercial reasons. Perhaps these large organisations can afford to do this. While we have a choice however, we would prefer to avoid unnecessarily increasing the cost of our products in order to pay for Halal accreditation when this money would be better spent continuing to support important charitable causes where assistance is greatly needed.
We point out that we have never been asked to put a Christian symbol (or any other religious symbol) on our food requiring that we send money to a Christian organisation for the right to do so.
Halal certification is a shakedown – a form of jizya.

Larry,
This dhimmi, Lemming-like phenomenon of large-medium food/grocery manufacturers like Kellogg’s and Cadbury pursuing halal certification is certainly not for religious reasons.
I can’t see, though, how halal certification is a winner commercially given that the Muslim population of Australia is around three percent. That, plus the fact that most companies like Kellogg’s, Devondale and numerous others are surreptitious about displaying the halal certification logos. After all, if these companies are proud to be dhimmi then why not say it with the approved logo.
The obvious answer is that their product would be boycotted like many of us do now with halal branded produce like Vegemite.
Presumably, these companies will be commercial apostates if they don’t renew their annual/biennial certification requirements.
In view of all this how can halal certification be good for profits?
P.S. I am having difficulties registering on The Pickering Post. Any helps?

Muslim Branding on Our Food
Thank you for spreading the word about Dick Smith Foods.
We have received a number of letters from people asking if we will be putting the Muslim Halal logo on our food.

Halal certification just makes us pay for our own self-destruction as you know. It’s a racket like Islamic banking. (no interest – sure – pull the other one!)

Also it has nothing to do with kosher food although some think it is similar. It is not.
Muslims will east kosher but Jews won’t eat halal and neither should any of us!
I have never posted on Larry’s site – very sorry – I can’t help you. I know it gets hacked frequently as I never any miss his posts!
Just curious… that last paragraph about the Christian symbol… was that added on by someone else?
Strange, because the statement direct from the source is word for word except for that:
http://www.dicksmithfoods.com.au/media/news/halal-certification-our-food
It was apparently added when the article appeared on Larry Pickering’s blog. [LINK]
Apart from the sentence affirming that no Christian organisation adds symbols to our food, is another confusing sentence – that was Not on Dick’s post – It is trying to add an arabic word to explain the $Millions gathered by muslims for halal certification on our food… QUOTE: ‘Halal certification is a shakedown – a form of jizya.’
This statement is false and is trying to say that the money gathered – that is ONLY sent to fund Islamic ends – is a Tax… it is NOT.
Let’s call it what it really is – at best it is a HUGE Money Making Racket to fund Islamic Expansion worldwide. At worst it becomes EXTORTION…. Protection Money.
Clearly this Halal Money is never given back to society to help the Australian economy – in fact these halal authorities are all Registered Not-For-Profit Trusts or Charities and therefore get HUGE Tax Breaks.
NOTE: Muslims ARE adding the arabic word ‘HALAL’ to our food, but they do not use the word Jizya for funds gathered, because JIZYA is a Tax that enforced by Islamic Governments – most recently in Egypt after the downfall of Morsi… the newly appointed Muslim Brotherhood brought in Jizya which is taken from the Pay Packets of Non-muslims at a rate of 20% on top of the deductions they already make.
Another clue to the fact that halal does not include any Jizya is that fact is is never paid by Muslims – and clearly halal certified food should be primarily aimed at muslim communities within Non-islamic countries.
@ SAM,
Halal certification fees in any country that is not 100% Muslim are indeed jizya. This is because the owners and managers of non-Muslim companies are being bullied into spending money for halal certification in order to continue doing business. These costs must be passed along to the company’s non-Muslim customers, employees, and shareholders.
The justifiable and proper way to certify halal is for Islamic organisations to pay Companies the fees to certify halal.
If Muslims want halal then they must pay for halal and not the other way around as they have made it.
Sneaky Muslims thinking they are so smart and the Kaffir dumb.
