Blazing Cat Fur has the story:

No one looks good in this situation. Pamela Geller is coming to Toronto. Initially she was to be hosted by Chabad Flamingo. Rabbi Kaplan of Chabad Flamingo is  a chaplain with York Regional Police.

Evidently some Muslims and “Others” complained to the YRP about Geller’s scheduled appearance.

The YRP gave Rabbi Kaplan a choice – cancel Pamela Geller or cease to be a chaplain for YRP. Sadly Rabbi Kaplan made the wrong choice. We are told that the Muslims have approached Jason Kenney’s office in an effort to have Pamela barred from entry to Canada. Good luck with that.

Now the YRP has a right to chose their Chaplains. That said, when was the last time you saw a Muslim prosecuted for hate speech in Canada? When was the last time you heard a Muslim organization denouncing the Hate Preaching Imam’s who are regularly featured at Canadian events? York Region Police’ last Chief Armand Labarge was gifted by the Khomeinists.

At any rate a new venue has been lined up and details will be announced shortly.

York Regional Police threaten rabbi’s role as chaplain over Pamela Geller speech

TORONTO – York Regional Police threatened to remove a rabbi as one of the force’s chaplains if he hosted a controversial anti-Islamist speaker at his Thornhill synagogue.

Insp. Ricky Veerappan, of the force’s diversity, equity and inclusion bureau, confirmed he and officers from the service’s hate crimes unit met with Rabbi Mendel Kaplan of the Chabad Flamingo Synagogue on Tuesday.

Veerappan said he told Kaplan that Geller’s speech “would not be endorsed by York Regional Police” and that the rabbi’s role as a force chaplain would be thrown into question if he were to permit the event.

“If he did (host Geller), then we’d have to reassess our relationship with (Kaplan),” Veerappan said. “We serve the needs of the entire community. Some of the stuff that Ms. Geller speaks about runs contrary to the values of York Regional Police and the work we do in engaging our communities.”

Veerappan said a member of York Region’s Muslim community, whom he wouldn’t identify, brought Geller’s scheduled talk to the attention of police.

As a believer in Law and Order and, in general, a long-time supporter of our police services, I find this totally disgusting and indefensible. A great many young men and women gave their lives in defence of our free western societies and this is now being swept aside by the likes of Ricky Veerappan. Where was YRP Chief Eric Jolliffe when this was going down? The York Region Police Board has a lot explaining to do about the anti-social behaviour of the police they employ and pay to serve and protect the community. What they are getting instead is a new breed of politically correct, socialist busybodies. The Motto of York Regional Police is “Deeds Speak.” Indeed they do, and if this deed speaks for the department, then it is past time for some resignations to be demanded. What is equally, if not more, disturbing is the deafening silence about this affair in most of our mainstream media. I have been unable to find any coverage in the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, or on the CBC or CTV.
