Bibles are banned in the Bluewater District, but mosqueterias are allowed by the Toronto District School Board! Go figure!

A public school board’s decision to ban distribution of Gideon Bibles to students has unleashed a wave of threatening calls and hateful emails.

While most views have been respectful, some messages to Ontario’s Bluewater District School Board express racist sentiment and question trustees’ patriotism.

Trustees call that unnerving.

The Bluewater board is expected to formalize the ban on all non-instructional religious materials at its meeting April 17th.

Ban proponents argue the distribution of Gideon Bibles has no place in a secular school system.

A Gideons spokesman acknowledges times have changed and says the organization fully accepts that some boards don’t want the Bibles given out.

Contact the Bluewater District School Board here.

As of this writing, I didn’t see anything on their website about the upcoming formalization of the ban on “non-instructional religious materials.”
