Do You Remember January 3, 2007 – Over Five Years On?

This is just a history lesson. I am sending it to all regardless of party. It is history and nothing can change it. All Americans should pass this on to everyone in their database. Both parties need to cut expenses, both parties have some blame, but this is truly what happened and Americans need to wake up and take our country back in 2012!!

The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party gained a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault,” think about this:

January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

  • The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
  • The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
  • The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
  • George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

Remember that day…

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5% GDP and 4.6% Unemployment…to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 times to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy). Barney blocked it and called it a “Chicken Little Philosophy” (and the sky did fall!)

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress, especially BARNEY!!!!

So when someone tries to blame Bush…

Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving the economy into the ditch.

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. Bush should have vetoed every bill that came in front of his desk!

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budget.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. Let’s remember what the deficits looked like during that period:

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is, “I inherited a deficit that I voted for,
And then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th, 2009.”

There is no way this will be widely publicized unless each of us passes it on.

“The problems we face today exist because the people who WORK for a living are outnumbered by those who VOTE for a living.”

A message to US voters:

If you see or hear anything at your polling place that doesn’t seem right, record it if possible.

Thanks for that article with stats too. Seems that is one of the biggest arguments the lib comments have and I could never really find any reliable information.

The dems sure know how to cook the books don’t they?

I’ve been telling this in my barber shop since 2007, but most people are not smart enough to understand that the President has little to do with such matters.

If the Dems didn’t lie, they’d have nothing to say.

They keep Social Security on life support so they can have ‘Saving Social Secuity’ as an issue to run on each election cycle. If they actually saved it they would have nothing to run on.

@Bob the Barber,
Never thought of it that way, but you’re right.

Man oh man can people be lead down the garden path with statistics. I can have a stat say any dam thing I ask it to answer. It is all contrived and controlled as anyone who has studied statistics at all will tell you, provided their honest enough to do so. I also find that people who have a dog in the fight (so to speak) will not be forthcoming in their openess to the truth about stats and they will stick with this impartiality of numbers and that same old argument. It is a fallacy, but hey, why should the truth be anything to deter a good story. All in praise of the statistic. What was it? lies, dammed lies and statistics. And for a wonderful example of how not to use statistics, check out the cbc and anything they have done with numbers as ststs as part of their story. You will see that they have their own special way to use them. Cheers.

How about a Constitutional Amendment outlawing the Democratic Party–making everyone who ever held office as a Democrat–ineligible for public office. 😆

If that doesn’t solve the problem in a year or two, do the same thing to the Republican Party. 💡 😆

Before you post a scathing comment about this comment, check the laughing faces. It is a joke solution. I suggested it for both parties. So, get a life. Unless, of course,
your comment about this comment is an obvious spoof.

Yes, we can say both parties are responsible but one party, the Democrats, are more responsible than the Republicans because they really started the horrific economic downfall of the housing industry and the economic mess we are in.
In 2003, that miserable excuse for a human being, Barney Frank, said that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mae were “in good shape!!!!” As stated below, the Republicans tried to stop Clinton’s wanting to let everyone have a dream of owning their own home – including those who didn’t even have jobs but were able to get a loan because companies were pressured by the Dems to lend them the money. Loans! Ha!!!! They knew that they could never pay it back. These are not statistics, they are facts! I do not defend Bush. I dislike the man intensely, but in this regard, the Dems are responsible for the huge financial mess we are in today. But you know what gets me? I believe that Obama will be elected again – after all, he has the Unions, the Hispanics, the Blacks, the Looney left!!! the Progressives, the cemeteries, the Christian haters, Wall Street, Soros and his band of thieves and all the businesses he’s bailed out – the ones he selectively bailed out – he is the one who decides which business are going to susrvive and which ones are nolt – Atlas Shrugged IS HERE! Someone close to me once said, “We have a two party system, the evil party and the stupid party, and we’re the stupid party! ‘nuf said!!!!

Could you post/email me the sources for your facts? I have learned from fb beat-downs not to post things without sources. Thanks 🙂 I’m glad you wrote this, I’d never even considered this angle!

You are right; it is very dangerous to post stuff you find on the Internet without sources. And, we rarely do so. Unfortunately, 1389 put this up back in February 2012, some eight months ago. She doesn’t remember the sources, so please accept my apology.

That said, 1389 does do tend to do very careful research. If she doesn’t do the actual research herself, she tends to rely on very trusted sources.

Personally, I do remember January of 2007. Unemployment was very low. Two Bureau of Labor Internet sites verify the figure of 4.6%. [LINK]

I also remember the stock market being pretty good then. This CNN site shows the close of the the three major averages for January 3, 2007. It looks like 1389 gave a slightly LOWER figure. [LINK]

I don’t really remember the other two figures, but I am sure you can check them with a quick Internet search, just like I check the issues that I do follow. In case you don’t already know, both of the admins of this blog are of limited means, thanks to the Obamaconomy, and we each have other work to do and other responsibilities besides maintaining this blog. Neither of us are in a position to do much more research than we already do. I suggest that it would be easier and more fruitful for you to pursue this research on your own.

If you remember how this whole mess started, it was really amazing. I am not sure if it was in 2005 or 2006, but then Speaker of House, J. Dennis Hastert proposed abolishing the IRS and eliminating the income tax. The Democrats really lost it; they trumped up some phony scandal and said that Hastert should have been watching the Republic House Delegation, perhaps tucking them in bed every night! So, Nasty Nancy Pelosi got in power and insisted that she should “drain the swamp.”

Hmm, where were those environmentalists, the ‘greenies’? Didn’t they warn Pelosi that draining swamps always has undesired side effects? Well, in draining the swamp, they about doubled the unemployment rate!

So, the lesson is clear. Vote Democrat and put more Americans out of work! Voting Republican doesn’t guarantee a better economy, but voting Democrat always guarantees a worse economy.
