If you want to understand the Balkans, you need to know about this dark chapter in our history that has been very effectively covered up. Few people in the West are aware of the mass slaughter of Serbs, Jews, Roma, and others in Nazi Croatia and other Axis-occupied territories in the Balkans, even though an abundance of evidence exists.
No, this is NOT a general indictment of the Roman Catholic Church. It IS an indictment of the Third Reich.

WOW, what a documentary !!! Apparently the only significant Catholic voice raised against this Serbian Holocaust was that of the Bishop of Mostar (which obviously was NOT part of Croatia). Also, kudos to at least some of the Italian occupiers: at least they were decent people who stopped more evil from being perpetrated…
I’m dumbfounded at how Stepinac and his clergy – while claiming credit for saving Jewish and maybe some Gypsy lives – so utterly HATED the Serbs, truly the brother people to the Croats with a virtually-identical language, many similar or identical customs and other such things – the ONLY real separator being Catholicism vs. Eastern Orthodoxy!!! That Stepinac (who considered the Great Schism between Eastern and Western Christianity in 1054 as worse than the Protestant Reformation) thought that extermination and forced conversions were the way to win or force Serbia over to Catholicism shows how actually STUPID he really was!!! NOBODY can EVER win over a people in their hearts via such extreme cruelty, especially when the truth really comes out… If Pope Pius XII indeed has such things on his conscience, WOE IS HIM!!! That he apparently helped the Jews isn’t enough…
This is an OUTSTANDING documentary in every way, though it pains me as an organist that organ music, notably that of the LUTHERAN composer Johann Sebastian Bach, had to be used to underline the evils perpetrated by supposedly-“Christian” Catholics. [From subsequent research, the picture of the organ being played at 0:54 in part 4 is that of the 4-manual Walcker in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Zagreb. If the music being played was recorded there, one hears a fine-sounding instrument.] Let’s NOT forget that God won’t really be that interested in terms of denominations (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant) but in terms of did we truly live as Christians? [Obviously those MONSTERS who committed such absolute atrocities were anything but!!!…]
