Fair and balanced? Really?
Anybody who has been following my blog posts and comments, either on 1389 Blog, on 2.0: The Blogmocracy, or anywhere else, is probably aware of my dislike for the Fox News “fair and balanced” slogan. There is no middle ground between good and evil. There is no compromise between truth and falsehood. I am uninterested in “fair and balanced” reporting. As I’ve mentioned before, the devil already has plenty enough spokesmen, and spokeswomen too. What I want instead is the whole truth and nothing but. That is what I endeavor to provide in all of my blog posts and comments.
And yes, I have previously voiced my own complaints about Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona. Just for starters, a significant percentage of those who are arrested in any jurisdiction are actually innocent. The U.S. Constitution states that anyone accused of a crime is to be considered innocent until proven guilty. It is bad enough to be wrongfully arrested – and yes, that inevitably happens some of the time in every jurisdiction – without also being subjected to rough and physically uncomfortable treatment. Those who are past middle age and/or already suffering from various physical infirmities have reason to fear permanent bodily harm or death if detained in a hot desert “tent city” facility.
Evidently, only sentenced inmates are being held in the tent city; pre-trial detainees are held in the regular jail.
From their website:
The Tents Jail was begun in 1993 when Sheriff Joe Arpaio was able to obtain some surplus military tents. These tents were set up in an area adjacent to one of the existing Maricopa County Jails in Phoenix, Arizona. Sheriff Arpaio had previously decided that he would not release any inmates due to jail overcrowding, and housing sentenced inmates in the tents seemed a good solution.
Despite my prior misgivings, there is something important that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is doing right.
Immigration enforcement and Obozo’s stealth amnesty program
With the recent federal lawsuit against the State of Arizona for empowering their local and state law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration law, it has become painfully clear that the Obama administration wants an unrestricted flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. The main reason for this is that the Obama regime sees them as an easily controlled and intimidated future voting bloc who will reliably support the leftist Democrat agenda. Naturally, the ICE employees who are charged with enforcing US immigration laws are disgusted with this.
Border agents vote ‘no confidence’ in ICE leadership (h/t doriangrey)
In an unprecedented move within Homeland Security special agents recently gave ICE leadership a “non confidence” vote.
The Center For Immigration Studies reported:
In an unprecedented move within the Department of Homeland Security, the special agents responsible for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws issued an exhaustive, scathing letter simply titled “VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN ICE DIRECTOR JOHN MORTON AND ODPP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PHYLLIS COVEN” on June 11, 2010. The letter, acquired through sources, provides a litany of examples of how ICE’s mission is being skewed towards supporting an unflinching goal of amnesty by refusing to allow agents to do their job; allowing criminal aliens to roam free; depleting resources for key enforcement initiatives that preceded this administration; and misrepresenting facts and programs, demeaning the extent of the criminal alien problem and geared to support amnesty.

What is Sheriff Joe Arpaio doing right?
Arpaio Responsible For 25% Of All U.S. Deportees Since 2007
Without the benefit of their state’s strict new immigration law, officers from a single Arizona county helped deport more than 26,000 immigrants from the U.S. through a federal-local partnership program that has been roundly criticized as fraught with problems.
Statistics obtained by The Associated Press show that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was responsible for deportations or forced departure of 26,146 immigrants since 2007.
That’s about a quarter of the national total of 115,841 sent out of the U.S. by officers in 64 law enforcement agencies deputized to help enforce immigration laws, some since 2006, under the so-called 287(g) program.
The tens of thousands of immigrant arrests show local officials already have a significant amount of authority to enforce immigration laws and help remove illegal immigrants from the country.
But with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio the top law officer among all those deputized, questions remain about what’s in store when Arizona gives more officers the power to enforce immigration laws. The federal government already is under fire for doing a poor job of keeping watch on local officers enforcing immigration laws and ensuring safeguards for protecting civil rights are in place.
…
Joanne Lin, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, said it is alarming that one Arizona county is responsible for a disproportionate share of deportations.
The Los Angeles County’s Sheriff’s Office, a distant second to Maricopa, helped find 13,784 immigrants who were later deported or left the country. The Sheriff’s Office’s agreement with the federal government allows it to check its jails for deportable immigrants, but not to enforce immigration laws during street patrols. A renewal of the agreement is under negotiation.
An estimated 10.8 million people, about 26 percent of the state’s population, are living illegally in California, compared with 460,000, about 12 percent, in Arizona.
“These statistics bear out that you have rogue sheriffs in certain counties that are bent on targeting immigrants,” Lin said.
No, Ms. Lin, what’s alarming is that other sheriffs in other counties are FAILING to do their jobs in targeting those immigrants (some legal, but most not) who have brought about a major crime wave involving not only smuggling of human beings and other contraband, but also gang warfare, widespread property damage, rape, and just about everything else in the criminal code.
Here’s another Arizona sheriff with the right idea
Arizona Sheriff: ‘Our Own Government Has Become Our Enemy’
(CNSNews.com) – Pinal County (Ariz.) Sheriff Paul Babeu is hopping mad at the federal government.
Babeu told CNSNews.com that rather than help law enforcement in Arizona stop the hundreds of thousands of people who come into the United States illegally, the federal government is targeting the state and its law enforcement personnel.
“What’s very troubling is the fact that at a time when we in law enforcement and our state need help from the federal government, instead of sending help they put up billboard-size signs warning our citizens to stay out of the desert in my county because of dangerous drug and human smuggling and weapons and bandits and all these other things and then, behind that, they drag us into court with the ACLU,” Babeu said.
The sheriff was referring to the law suits filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and the U.S. Department of Justice challenging the state’s new immigration law.
“So who has partnered with the ACLU?” Babeu said in a telephone interview with CNSNews.com. “It’s the president and (Attorney General) Eric Holder himself. And that’s simply outrageous.”

Subject: ANOTHER APPEAL!!!
This is another appeal – McCain must go!
I just sent a letter to The Arizona Republic regarding McCain’s bid for re-election in which he is being challenged in the Republican Primary Election on 24 Aug. If I do not hear from The Arizona Republic within the next few days, I will post my letter. In my letter, I concentrated on McCain’s support for granting amnesty to illegal aliens and his efforts to restrict free speech with restictions on campaign finances. In my letter, I also wrote, “where has McCain been for the past 24 plus years?” When he did nothing to secure our borders? I also added that McCain is the best reason why there should be term limits. However, I would hope that some of you will send letters more to do with McCain’s connections to the Kosovo Liberation Army. May I add that it must be done diplomatically (I know that will be difficult to do!)
To send a letter to The Arizona Republic, you can go to: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/opinions/sendaletter.html The limit is 200 words.
I also found the email address for the Arizona Daily Sun: azdesnews@azdailysun.com
Now, here is where you can be a big help. If anyone knows or can find out the names of the different Arizona newspapers and their email address for letters to the editor(s), it would be most helpful. If anyone can do that, please post so that we can write to them also.
But how about that McCain? Where has he been for the past 24 plus years? He was once even in favor of amnesty for illegals (McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Plan) but now he is saying what he thinks the people want to hear and all of a sudden, supports securing our borders. What a hypocrite – see: McCain supports amnesty, says immigration activist and Kennedy-McCain Amnesty Plan Falls Flat.
Illegal Mexicans are crossing into the United States as easily as Albanians crossed illegally into Kosovo. If only Kosovo had been able to secure its borders, it would be a different story today. Unfortunately, we have a president who is siding with the President of Mexico against his own people.
I am, of course, supporting J.D. Hayworth, especially after McCain’s support of the Muslim jihadists in Kosovo – and then he claims to be the best one regarding our homeland security. He didn’t mind turning Kosovo over to a bunch of Muslim war lords. See: McCain and the KLA Connection
See: Allah’s Willing Executioners, March 2008 and scroll down to see the picture of Cindy McCain with Kosovo’s war lord, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. Kind of unbelieveable, isn’t it, that we would support Muslim KLA terrorists over the Christian Serbs?
I understand that there are at least four or five other states that have even stricter immigration laws than Arizona’s, but if the governors of all the states had any gumption, they would all openly support Arizona – but then, that may be asking too much?????
I just hope my Serbian friends remember just who this guy McCain is when the Republican Primary Election rolls around on 24 August by sending contributions to J.D. Hayworth. I want McCain to go down!

Underemployment: Obama’s dirty little secret

Even the best-qualified, highest-skilled, and hardest-working Americans are up against it these days. Yes, even those Americans who still have jobs! We all know that the official unemployment statistics are vastly understated, in that they focus only on claims for unemployment compensation. The stats do not properly account for older workers who have taken early retirement after losing a job; young workers who cannot enter the labor force; “discouraged workers” who are still looking for work, but whose unemployment benefits are exhausted; disabled persons who could work to a limited extent, but who aren’t being hired; and American citizens who have had to travel overseas, often at great sacrifice and financial loss, to find work.
But perhaps the biggest of the dirty little secrets hidden by the official unemployment statistics is underemployment. I know about this from personal experience. Despite all of my qualifications, I have not been able to find full-time employment in over two years. The reason? With all of the hidden ramifications of Obamacare looming over everyone’s heads, along with the other past and future attacks on private enterprise, nobody wants to hire full-time people at all if they can help it. Certainly nobody wants to hire someone over 55 for a full-time job where the employer will be forced to provide overpriced health insurance or be fined for not providing it. Some people may call it age discrimination, but it’s the government that is causing it, not the prejudices of private employers.
There’s no need to take my word for any of this. Look at any job board or want-ad listing and notice the proliferation of part-time, temporary, and contract assignments, and the relative absence of full-time jobs with benefits. For example, a retail store that would normally hire two or three full-time employees will instead hire five part-time employees for 15 to 30 hours per week, at minimum wage, perhaps with commissions, but no benefits. A recent Gallup Poll also reveals large-scale underemployment in the form of part-time workers who want, but cannot get, full-time employment.
The liberal elite wants it that way
Of course, the liberal establishment pretends not to know why unemployment remains so high. Case in point: NYT: Mystery for White House: Where did the jobs go? [H/T: Rodan]
That conundrum, which reclaims center stage in Washington this week, is this: Why is unemployment so high?
The whodunit has flummoxed economists in both parties for a year. In 2009, as the new Obama administration grappled with the financial crisis, joblessness rose nearly two points beyond customary recession forecasts.
Part of the uncertainty concerns why. More consequential now, as the administration and Congress determine what to do, is whether the unemployment spike reflects a short-term or permanent shift in demand for workers.
But seriously…
I have studied economics and I know this for certain: All they have to do is repeal Obozocare, resume drilling, seal the borders, and end the H-1b program, and unemployment will drop three points within a month. I guarantee it!
But none of that will happen until we somehow muster the political will to force our government to do that. Or until enough States secede and decide to govern themselves in the interest of their own citizens.
One way or another, we need to free ourselves from the predatory liberal elites who flout the will of the people and who serve only their own interests and those of our foreign enemies.

The Obama administration, together with the liberal establishment in academia, the mainstream media, the NGOs, the foundations, the Ivy League, and the UN, all have reason to want unemployment to remain high. Why? Because, though it may make the Obama administration look incompetent in the short run, as it did with FDR, it will create more dependency on the government and increase centralized government power in the long run.
Dependency, the Liberals’ Natural Resource explains how this nefarious system works:
A Heritage Foundation report shows that thanks to multiple government programs, the proportion of Americans in some way dependent on government largess has suddenly jumped by 31.2% since 2001 after decades of much slower increases. Even in inflation-adjusted dollars, America now spends thirteen times more on public welfare than it did in 1965. Dependency has snowballed in health care, public welfare, and housing, and the upward trend seems likely to continue as Obama’s statist polices take hold and baby boomers retire. Indeed, the president plans to spend some $10.3 trillion in welfare over the next decades. In a nutshell, Uncle Sam is replacing the family, the church, private charities, and all other non-government sources of assistance, and this means regular jobs for the new caregivers. And it feels good to work for Uncle Sam: Benefits included, the average federal workers in 2008 earned double what those in the private sector took home. So it is hardly unexpected that since about January 2008, some 7.9 million private sectors jobs have disappeared, while 590,000 public sector jobs were created — and this trend seems to be multiplying. It’s a thoroughly modern ménage à trois of dependent citizens, well-paid government employees ministering to them, and harried taxpayers footing the bill.
…
Here’s what makes this “new wealth” so attractive: In today’s uncertain economy, it far outshines the old wealth of building things and selling them at a profit. For one, jobs ministering to the dependent are labor-intensive and immune to mechanization. Government jobs are also wonderfully secure. It is inconceivable, for example, that a counselor working with Vietnamese gangs in Los Angeles will be replaced by an industrial robot or that under-employed social workers will also be asked to direct rush hour traffic to trim labor costs. This is not the cost-cutting-obsessed airlines where passengers make their own reservations, print boarding passes, stow their own luggage, and bring their own food. Nor can these interventions be outsourced to foreign competition. Helping the less fortunate has a permanent “Made in USA” label attached — Toyota has no interest in tackling the pathologies of those living in Detroit.
The supply of these jobs-generating assets is also inexhaustible. America will never, never run out of this newly discovered “wealth.” We may deplete our oil and ravage our forests, but what are the odds of drug addicts, the mentally ill, young unwed mothers, and others needing intervention vanishing? Those mired in pathology are a truly renewable natural resource. Social problems do recede, but rest assured, replacements are easily found (e.g., sex addiction). In a pinch, just open the borders and receive a bountiful fresh supply. And compare the ease of setting up an in-school clinic to mentor anorexic, non-English-speaking adolescent girls with low self-esteem versus building a factory. The former is instantly shovel-ready.
Read it all.
In other words, if the government stops the private sector from offering relatively secure, remunerative, full-time employment to American citizens, that will eventually leave the government as the only source of good jobs on American soil. This is how the federal government creates a new class of Soviet-style apparatchiki. Of course, those jobs ONLY go to those who actively support the regime and do their part to enhance the careers of those already in power, while keeping everyone else down.
Now what?
Our goal is to re-empower ourselves and our families, and decentralize and take back control over everything that has been usurped from us. That means we need to go on the attack to discredit the liberal establishment and all its pomps and all its works, anywhere and everywhere it appears.
We must overcome not only economic underemployment, but the underemployment of the human spirit.
To that end, please turn your attention to this excellent article: Read the rest of this excellent article at America’s Ruling Class — And the Perils of Revolution. [H/T: doriangrey]
… Consider: The ruling class denies its opponents’ legitimacy. Seldom does a Democratic official or member of the ruling class speak on public affairs without reiterating the litany of his class’s claim to authority, contrasting it with opponents who are either uninformed, stupid, racist, shills for business, violent, fundamentalist, or all of the above. They do this in the hope that opponents, hearing no other characterizations of themselves and no authoritative voice discrediting the ruling class, will be dispirited. For the country class seriously to contend for self-governance, the political party that represents it will have to discredit not just such patent frauds as ethanol mandates, the pretense that taxes can control “climate change,” and the outrage of banning God from public life. More important, such a serious party would have to attack the ruling class’s fundamental claims to its superior intellect and morality in ways that dispirit the target and hearten one’s own. The Democrats having set the rules of modern politics, opponents who want electoral success are obliged to follow them.
…
Reducing the taxes that most Americans resent requires eliminating the network of subsidies to millions of other Americans that these taxes finance, and eliminating the jobs of government employees who administer them. Eliminating that network is practical, if at all, if done simultaneously, both because subsidies are morally wrong and economically counterproductive, and because the country cannot afford the practice in general. The electorate is likely to cut off millions of government clients, high and low, only if its choice is between no economic privilege for anyone and ratifying government’s role as the arbiter of all our fortunes. The same goes for government grants to and contracts with so-called nonprofit institutions or non-governmental organizations. The case against all arrangements by which the government favors some groups of citizens is easier to make than that against any such arrangement. Without too much fuss, a few obviously burdensome bureaucracies, like the Department of Education, can be eliminated, while money can be cut off to partisan enterprises such as the National Endowments and public broadcasting. That sort of thing is as necessary to the American body politic as a weight reduction program is essential to restoring the health of any human body degraded by obesity and lack of exercise. Yet shedding fat is the easy part. Restoring atrophied muscles is harder. Reenabling the body to do elementary tasks takes yet more concentration.
The grandparents of today’s Americans (132 million in 1940) had opportunities to serve on 117,000 school boards. To exercise responsibilities comparable to their grandparents’, today’s 310 million Americans would have radically to decentralize the mere 15,000 districts into which public school children are now concentrated. They would have to take responsibility for curriculum and administration away from credentialed experts, and they would have to explain why they know better. This would involve a level of political articulation of the body politic far beyond voting in elections every two years.
If self-governance means anything, it means that those who exercise government power must depend on elections. The shorter the electoral leash, the likelier an official to have his chain yanked by voters, the more truly republican the government is. Yet to subject the modern administrative state’s agencies to electoral control would require ordinary citizens to take an interest in any number of technical matters. Law can require environmental regulators or insurance commissioners, or judges or auditors to be elected. But only citizens’ discernment and vigilance could make these officials good. Only citizens’ understanding of and commitment to law can possibly reverse the patent disregard for the Constitution and statutes that has permeated American life. Unfortunately, it is easier for anyone who dislikes a court’s or an official’s unlawful act to counter it with another unlawful one than to draw all parties back to the foundation of truth.
Read it all.

Subject: Arizona Immigration Gone Awry: Why Rape Victim Had to Defend Herself (July 15)
FROM HAIKU, MAUI
Hello everybody. As you know, I don’t write many Truth in Media editorials these days, or years for that matter. But when something outrageous happens, such as the anti-G20 protests in Toronto, or the new information that just crossed my desk about Arizona’s illegal immigration that calls for the real TRUTH to emerge, well… I answer the call. Check it out…
A few months ago, a groups of friends sat around the table here in Hawaii and debated Arizona’s new immigration law. The law was seen as “racist,” “bad,” “unlawful,” “unconstitutional,” etc. by most people. Strike “most.” Make that ALL participants in the discussion. Of course, they were merely echoing the so-called “liberal” media headlines.
Except for one. As the only Arizonan in the group, this writer finally asked the question: “So are you saying that it is unlawful to uphold the law and make something illegal – illegal?”
My Hawaiian friends argued that since immigration is a purview of the Federal Government, a state has no right to enforce the federal laws.
But what if such federal law enforcement is slim to none? What is a state or a citizen supposed to do if their properties, land, nature, and foremost of all – their physical and economic security – are being blatantly violated while the Feds do next to nothing to prevent the carnage? Sit back and watch it being destroyed so that some American businesses can benefit from cheaper labor?
Well, it is easy to cast stones at our beleaguered border states, such as Arizona, while sitting in an office in Manhattan or Hollywood, or while debating immigration over fish dinners in Hawaii or Seattle. But as one who still considers Arizona his original American home, my heart cried out in outrage when I watched the following videos, just released by the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, DC:
Floodgates which opened in 1965 with Immigration Act are now gushing more than BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil gusher.
New documentary video, released by Center for Immigration Studies helps explain, vindicates Arizona’s new immigration law: A case of self-defense.
Love
Bob
July 6th, 2010 — 1389, China, India, Obama, counterjihad, economic collapse, education, immigration, leftist-jihadist convergence, outsourcing, tech industry

By 1389
As I have pointed out earlier, the damage that has been done by outsourcing our technical know-how to India and China, ever since Reagan left office, is irreparable.
- Starting with the Clinton Administration, we GAVE a wealth of technological access to the Chinese, allowing their military-industrial complex to progress much faster than would otherwise have been the case.
- Through the H-1b program and the tax and regulatory advantages of offshoring, the federal government has made it more and more difficult, verging on impossible, for Americans to make a decent living in high-tech careers. Young people aren’t going into those fields, and older folks are finding low-paying jobs outside their fields, or are retiring on inadequate incomes because they can’t find work any more.
This gives the high-tech companies (run by tranzi progressives, and sometimes by immigrants from Muslim countries, who contribute heavily to the Dems) an excuse to claim that we need to outsource and offshore even more, because of the a shortage of home-grown high-tech help. Of course, it is a lie, but in the future, this shortage will indeed exist, simply because nobody born here can hope to make a living in high-tech fields.
Creating TWO underclasses of indentured servants
- Managers and CEOs at high-tech firms aren’t offshoring and outsourcing in order to enhance America’s competitiveness by recruiting “the best and the brightest.” It’s all about short-term self-interest. What they really want are poorly-paid, compliant, and easily intimidated foreign workers who will make no demands and who will do exactly as they are told, with no thought given to pesky matters of conscience such as loyalty to the US or to Judaeo-Christian standards of ethics in the workplace.
- Adding insult to injury are all of those efforts to get American youngsters interested in studying for high-tech careers. That includes one of the three things that Obama tasked former NASA director Charles Bolden to do: to inspire children to learn math and science. Even the most talented children will seldom put the effort into studying math and science unless they think there’s something worthwhile that they will be able to do with that knowledge.
By the time they reach college age, those youngsters are being induced take out student loans that they will never be able to pay back, because there will be no jobs in those fields for Americans. The sneaky thing here is that student loan debts cannot be discharged through bankruptcy, so the federal government gets a permanent class of people in peonage and debt-slavery. The federal government can then promise to forgive some part of the student loans if the victim agrees to spend a certain number of years doing menial tasks promoting the interests of those currently in power.
Raising vipers in our bosom
On the other hand, the offspring of our jihadi enemies have enough petrodollars that they need not trouble themselves about unpaid student loans. Instead, they come to the US on student visas, accumulate the technical knowledge that their own benighted societies cannot produce, and take it back to their compatriots at home and abroad to use against us. It never occurs to the members of the leftist-jihadist convergence who run our universities that it is a bad idea to provide technical training to our avowed enemies.
Here’s my advice:
If you want a high-tech career, don’t borrow money to learn it and don’t plan on living in the US.

Quite the contrary.
The UK, Germany, and other G-20 countries are cleaning house while the US, under George Soros and the Obama regime, is trying to drag the rest of the world, along with itself, down into the abyss.

See for yourself:
- Soros wants to collapse German economy with debt
Transnational Totalitarian Progressive George is well known to be Barack Hussein Obama’s puppet master. He is a supporter of Islamic-Imperialist groups like Hizballah and Hamas. Soros despises American allies like Colombia and Israel and through his funding of International Leftist NGO’s. In short Soros is the perfect Bond villain, an evil sinister man who had no qualms taking the property of fellow Jews during the Holocaust.
Barack Hussein Obama recently lectured the G20 nations to not balance their budgets. Instead he wants them to keep spending and borrowing. The reason for this is very simple, he is doing his master’s bidding. George Soros and his buddies collapsed the US economy in Sept. of 2008 so the Progressives can seize power. That was not enough however, now they want to bankrupt the whole world starting with Germany. Soros had the audacity to try to lecture the German government into spending more money… Read the rest.
- Defying opposition from within the Coalition, Tories to shut the open door for migrants
Theresa May will unveil the country’s first ever cap on migrant workers on Monday – finally ending Labour’s open door immigration policy.
Despite opposition within the coalition Cabinet, the Home Secretary will impose a strict limit on the number of non-EU work permits that can be handed out.
Eventually, it is expected to lead to a sharp reduction in the more than 100,000 migrants and their family members who are told they can work here each year… Read the rest.
In other words, the UK is working to roll back all forms of immigration, legal and otherwise, especially from Third World countries. The US should be doing the same.
- The Hill: US Isolated on Spending at G-20
…Germany, France and Great Britain have all launched austerity campaigns designed to reduce public debt. They’re motivated in part by the Greek debt crisis, which continues to scare countries across Europe.
“In the run-up to the summit, a clear plurality of G-20 countries has come up on the side of fiscal consolidation and not stimulus spending,” said Dan Price, a senior partner at Sidley Austin and former President George W. Bush’s “sherpa” for G-20 summits.
Japan has also introduced a strategy to reduce its budget deficit, while Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who is hosting the summit in Toronto, has challenged G-20 members to cut their deficits in half… Read the rest.
What does this mean?
Why can other countries begin to turn around, while the US seemingly cannot?
One problem is that the system of checks and balances in the US Constitution is broken. When we are foolish enough to elect a truly horrible legislature and President, we have no effective means of rolling back, or even of reining in, the abuse and the usurpation of power, until irreparable damage has been done. The Clinton Administration taught us that the threat of impeachment is toothless. The Supreme Court has too much power, and all too often, it uses that power to reaffirm unworthy laws and regulations as being Constitutional.
What now?
Since 1865, the States have feared to assert their right to annul any federal law or regulation that clearly flouts the Constitution. But that is beginning to change. We can only hope that enough citizens in enough States will realize that the federal government is not our protector, but a socialist tyranny that neither has nor deserves the consent of the governed.

Desperate Unemployed Software Engineer Attacks IRS Office Building
By now, many readers will have heard the news story about pilot Joseph Stack having crashed a small plane into the IRS office building in Austin Texas (for details, see Fox News, Pilot Crashes Into Texas Building in Apparent Anti-IRS Suicide.)
The Inevitable Media Reaction
Whenever anything like this happens, the same kinds of articles tend to appear in the media and on blogs. There are the articles that, often with a self-righteous tone, wax eloquent about the horrific nature of the act, the despicable character of the attacker, and (often) the pristine innocence of the victims. Given that the victims in this event were IRS employees, little has been said about them in the media.
Then there are those other articles that sympathize with the attacker’s motives, ideology, or political stance, but condemn the attacker’s use of violence. Here again, I haven’t seen much of that this time around. Joseph Stack’s manifesto encompassed such a mixed bag of grievances, accusations, and quotations that it is impossible to tell where in the political spectrum he was coming from. I suspect that he himself had no clear idea.
Finally, there are articles calling out for more and more government legislation, regulation, or law enforcement to prevent any similar incidents from occuring in the future. In this instance, there were acknowledgements that it is all but impossible to prevent this type of suicide attack, but no amount of reasoning or common sense ever seems to stop the flood of demands for draconian repressive measures.
The “Powers That Be” Knew Something Like This Was Bound To Happen
No matter where you live in the world, you know that the worldwide economy has been bad for over two years, and there is no improvement in sight. The rot started in the US, largely due to actions on the part of the US government and various corrupt oligarchs, such as George Soros. The collapse and supposed “bailout” were engineered by various corrupt politicians and financiers to take money out of our pockets and put it into their own. Everything done by the US Congress and the Obama administration has served only to deepen the depression. From here, the economic rot has spread worldwide; two notable examples are Iceland and Greece.
Then there’s the issue of the U.S. economy having been hollowed out by outsourcing, offshoring, and the H-1b visa program. This has had a particularly devastating effect on the American middle class in general, and the American IT worker in particular.
Even with the real unemployment rate in many areas of the US matching or exceeding that of the 1930s Great Depression, it is truly scandalous that the H-1b program remains in effect. This insures that any effort on the part of American IT workers to get jobs, or to retrain themselves for future jobs in the industry, are doomed to come to naught.
The H-1b program never had anything to do with aiding the competitiveness of US firms in global markets; that ship sailed away years ago. Instead, the H-1b program is simply a testimony to the power of multinational technology megabusinesses to deceive, corrupt, and intimidate US elected officials. (Please see IT Business Edge: AFL-CIO Report Takes Critical Look at H-1B Visa Program for more on this issue.)
How is this relevant to the story? The attacker, Joseph Stack, was an unemployed IT worker who was also bedeviled by a long battle with the IRS and, apparently, ensuing difficulties with his home life. I would like to point out that the overwhelming majority of people faced with such situations never “go postal” or resort to any form of violence. But the US government has enough statistics and historical data at its disposal to know that, whenever a large group of people is pushed too far into desperation, a tiny percentage of them will go over the edge.
Let me make it clear that I am NOT claiming that anybody connected with the US government knew ahead of time that this particular individual, Joseph Stack, would do what he did. I said no such thing, nor did I mean to imply it. But I do intend to say that the US government knew that it was only a matter of time before someone whose life had been destroyed by government policies would commit a high-profile violent act.
The “Powers That Be” Could Have Prevented It Without Repressive Measures
The US Congress and the Obama administration could cut unemployment significantly just by eliminating the H-1b program, but they do not. Part of the reason why H-1b remains in effect is simply because the Obama administration not only is thoroughly corrupt, but also is engaged in a covert war to disempower, plunder, and eventually eliminate most of the US middle class. In other words, the Obama administration is not going to do anything to help out a segment of the population that does not provide the Democrat party with significant political or financial support.
But that’s not the only reason. Whenever anyone who is not part of the administration’s political support base reacts to oppression by becoming violent, this violent act provides those in power with a convenient excuse both to discredit their political opponents and to increase government control by cracking down on everybody by any means available.
If Violence Is Not The Answer, What Is?
Supposed “democratic election” or no, recent polls in the US have made it clear that neither the Obama administration nor the US Congress enjoy the consent of the governed, in any sense of the word. The US economy remains in free fall with no recovery in sight, and with the levels of debt and irresponsible spending being what they are, little possibility of recovery in the lifetime of anybody old enough to read this blog. Glenn Beck proclaimed that we don’t need a revolution; we’ve already had one. He is correct that we don’t need a “revolution” in that sense, but incorrect that we have already had one. The American Revolution in 1776 was not really a revolution in the usual sense, but a war of secession. What we need now is not revolution, but secession, and not just one secession, but perhaps fifty of them. And if enough people understand what they want, secession need not involve bloodshed.
Keep watching this blog for more about secession.

The 11th European Police Congress, to be held in Berlin on 29-30th January is the target of a Balkan Al Qaeda franchise.
The convention will be inaugurated by Franco Frattini, Vice President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security. The second item on the agenda is “Global, European and National threats by Terrorists: National Concepts to face the Challenge.”
In a programme note (bottom Programme section) it is advised that one of the speakers, Dr Darko Trifunovic – a maverick young investigator from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Security Studies – will not be able to attend due to “pressure and death threats” made against him by radical groups that are under his investigation. He has decided not to “expose himself and the congress to further danger.”
Dr Darko Trifunovic has been conducting research into the origins, ambitions and operating methods of what he calls “white Al Qaeda”, the home grown branch of the terrorist franchise organization in the various areas of the Balkans.
It first took foothold in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the Western powers in the 90′s saw the influx of Afghan war veterans into the territory as an easy way to support the Bosnian Muslims. Since the Dayton Peace Accord Iranians as well as Saudi Wahhabis have flooded the statelet with funds, over-sized mosques and subversive organizations, one of which has members throughout the Bosniak diaspora in Europe, Canada and the US. One such is CNAB, the center of gravity of the present threats against Trifunovic.
Trifunovic has also found new links between Bosnia and the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the London and Madrid train bombings. Specifically mentioned are Mohammed Atta, who coordinated the 9/11 outrage, and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, Bosnian citizenship holder and war veteran, former Al Qaeda ‘Operations Chief’, who – according to Dr Darko Trifunovic – took over the leadership of the Al Qaeda media campaign (‘the Committee’) during the planning of the 9/11. Atta’s place of residence was a Bosnian hamlet before launching off to Hamburg and the US for his fatal mission.
With the knowledge of the UN interim governors in Kosovo, Albanian-American radicals were actively recruiting terrorists for ‘the war against America’ prior to the 9/11 attack, of which they had foreknowledge. The UN however, did nothing.
The Foreign Area Officer Association FAOA posits that the Sarajevo based organization, AIO’s (Aktivna Islamska Omladina)[1] “(…) Islamic weekly magazine SAFF [2] and organization’s website have been fronts of radical Islamic preaching, gaining notoriety for publishing interviews with terrorists who have fought against US forces in Iraq and expressing solidarity with the jihadists and suicide bombers in Israel.” FAOA also links the AIO with members throughout the Bosniak diaspora in Europe and the US, one of which is the CNAB, now the center of gravity, threatening Trifunovic.
CNAB claims to represent some 350.000 Bosniak refugees in the US and Canada. Trifunovic qualifies them as a new jihadi organization. He specifies four members in particular, who are one way or another involved in Islamist activities. In Terror Finance Blog in “Bosnjaci.net Attacks on Darko Trifunovic” Trifunovic specifies as follows:
“Here is why Bosnjaci.net, an Islamist web site from Bosnia is attacking me.
One of Bosnjaci.net‘s favorite and honored members is Sakib Mahmuljin, who is a high-ranking Bosnian White Al Qaeda member, accused of war crimes. See this: “War crimes: “Vozuca case”, six years later”.
Izet Nanic is a former commander of the 505th Buzim Brigade with the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army which was an integral part was the “Hamze” unit. See here and here.
Another prominent individual on Bosnjaci.net is Nezim Halilovic-Muderis. He is imam at the Wal-Mart-sized, Wahhabi King Fahd mosque, which opened in 2000 on the outskirts of Sarajevo, built with Saudi money and named after the Saudi monarch. Nezim Halilovic-Muderis, a Bosnian extremist agitator whose antics I have been following since 1999. Muderis’s Friday sermons, available on Bosnian websites, are replete with incitement to violence in Israel, Kashmir, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and the Philippines. He preaches the same line on the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, as is heard among the acolytes of the late terrorist leader of ‘Al Qaeda in Iraq’, Abu Musab al Zarqawi.
It is, to say the least, bizarre: “In Falluja, according to statements from the U.S. command, spirits have appeared in the form of enormous spiders, weighing about a kilogram, that only attack U.S. soldiers, and the person who is bitten dies within seconds.” More information about this prominent Wahhabist is here.
Another Bosnian Muslim war criminal, protected and promoted by Bosnjaci.net is Rasim Delic. According to the indictment, Rasim Delic was aware that the jihadi members of the
Bosnian army had a distinct tendency to commit crimes, especially against captured enemy combatants and civilians (…) Reportedly, however, he took no measures whatsoever to stop these acts taking place.
In an email Trifunovic has it that the web master of Bosnjaci.net, Afan Pasalic even openly confessed that he uses Trifunovic’ name to manipulate and and false emails and post comments in his name. Trifunovic qualifies the impersonation quite accurately as “shocking!!!!”
A brief insight into some of the more flowery death threats against Trifunovic, posted at Bosnjaci.net:
“Help us God to erase Trifunovic and entire his family from Earth – We must teach our kids from age of 5 how to use pistols and guns, and that they hold in one hand (knjiga) Ku’ran and in another hand a gun ready for use – If Darko Trifunovci goes to the 11th Police Congress in Berlin, God help that all Muslims finish him – Such individuals as Darko Trifunovic, we need to harass him, and we need to continue to discredit him by all means and to very end, until others dare not show up to talk about terrorism”
The manicheic character of the site is illustrated by the shocking death threats in one section, while another is reserved for “Dobri Bosnjaci” (good Bosniaks). The latter consists of a list of special members of the portal: dangerous Islamic fundamentalists and war criminals. Trifunovic: “We are dealing with pure criminals (…) I am planning to inform all EU, US and other relevant authorities regarding this unfortunate incident in order to prevent such thing from happening again in the future.” I don’t share his optimism.
Earlier this week a colleague of Trifunovic, analyst Ioannis Michaletos, released this media message on his behalf.
Up to now Dr Trifunovic has been able to conduct his investigations from the ivory tower of the University of Belgrade in relative tranquility. When it transpired however he was invited to speak during the upcoming 11th Police Congress and – as a consequence, the results of his research would reach the professional domain – no methods have been shunned to intimidate him, discredit him as a person and as a scholar.
With false accusations of ‘Srebrenica denial’ and ‘hate mongering’ – references to laws prohibiting Holocaust denial and inciting racial hatred – attempts have been made to get him banned from the police convention; impersonations and cyber manipulation being but the least methods of choice to muzzle. But it is my understanding that, far from denying the deplorable events at Srebrenica, Trifunovic has been further investigating the matter.
Apart from the personal injury done here, the public damage of this terrorist saga is two-fold: researchers are being harassed to prevent them from doing their jobs, thus interfering with the right of enquiry. The consequences of such actions on the academic level could well be considerable. The second part is even worse: the intimidation of officials conducting criminal enquiries, subverting the rule of law, leading ultimately to mob rule.
Let me wrap this up with some thoughts of my own. In the past few decades one of the greater mysteries has been the question, how the Holocaust on six million Jews at the hands of the Nazis could have taken place without the entire continent raising up in protest. At present, a sizable majority of people in the West surprisingly seem to be sharing views with the people who have declared against us. However treacherous and hard to fathom this may be, it is kinder on the persons harbouring such views: it is after all easier to be a voluntary accomplice – silent or otherwise – than it is to be a coward.

Update 1/15/08:
As of January 13, the website bosnjaci.net, which is said to be an al Qaeda support forum, is no longer functioning. In place of the normal display is a message saying that the site is closed, and that the hacker attack took place because Darko Trifunovic had to cancel his appearance at the Euro police convention.
We will continue to follow this story, which is proving to be very interesting indeed.
