Being on the receiving end of anger and hate seems to be an inescapable part of the human condition. At any moment, somebody out there may harbor ill will toward us. Sometimes it is for reasons we can understand, sometimes not.
I remember a classmate in college telling me that he had sat down at a table to study, and a girl, with whom he was not acquainted, had scowled at him and moved away. His complaint was that he wanted everybody to like him, and he was bothered by the fact that a complete stranger had turned up her nose at him. I told him, “Well, that’s too bad, but it’s impossible to get everyone in the whole world to like you. That’s just the way life is!”
Sometimes the hostility is expected. We got a death threat or two from the articles about Geert Wilders’ Fitna movie, but we figure that just goes with the territory. Anybody who expresses an opinion or takes a stand is liable to stir up some anger and hatred. On the other hand, those who never express an opinion may be accused of spinelessness, sloth, or stupidity. So it’s impossible to make a favorable impression on everybody.
Enemies versus the human spirit
We cannot afford to let our enemies define who we are.
Whether we choose our enemies or they choose us, we can still be in a boatload of spiritual trouble, often without realizing it. I was unable to determine where the following quotation comes from; it may perhaps be from Lao Tzu. Be that as it may, its truth is all too often borne out by the record of human history:
Choose your enemies carefully, because you will become more and more like them.
Troparion
Thou who didst pray for them that crucified thee, O Lord, lover of the souls of men, and who didst command thy servants to pray for their enemies, forgive those who hate and maltreat us, and turn our lives from all harm and evil to brotherly love and good works: for this we humbly bring our prayer, that with one accord and one heart we may glorify thee who alone lovest mankind.
Kontakion
As thy first martyr Stephen prayed to thee for his murderers, O Lord, so we fall before thee and pray: forgive all who hate and maltreat us and let not one of them perish because of us, but all be saved by thy grace, O God the all-bountiful.

Palestinian Authority Television For Children, under the control of Mahmoud Abbas, has now introduced ‘Assud the Rabbit’ on its weekly “Tomorrows Pioneers” program.
Farfur Mouse was first introduced but martyred by a Jew, then Nahoul Bee died when the Israeli siege of Gaza prevented him from reaching a hospital. Tomorrows Pioneers have now introduced Assud the Rabbit telling children, “…I Assud will finish off the Jews and eat them…”
What lovable characters courtesy of Hamas, teaching children to hate Jewish people and Israel.
You can’t make this stuff up. Rearing a generation of cannibals. Good luck with that …and Obama wants to talk to these guys right? The West is lost ….. From Palestinian Media Watch.
Hamas Kids TV: Don’t eat Danish food — eat the Danes
Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas) Feb. 22, 2008 By Itamar Marcus And Barbara Crook
Hamas children’s TV dedicated a program to hatred of Denmark, the West and Israel, climaxing with a statement about the West by the co-host, a giant rabbit character named Assud:
“If they repeat it we will kill them … I will bite them and eat them!”
The program focuses on the demand to boycott Danish and Israeli products. Denmark and the West are targeted because of the cartoons featuring Muhammad that first appeared in a Danish newspaper. Israel is targeted because it exists. Saraa, the young TV hostess, describes the publication of the Muhammad cartoons as “the West’s attack against the Messenger [Muhammad].”
Kafir Alalazoo over at The Jawa Report has done a great service to the free world in assembling the frightening rise in Jew hatred worldwide. You must watch it. You think you know. But you don’t.
There’s much more over at The Jawa report substantiating this cancer of the soul. GO, read it all. I do this everyday and it knocked me out.
The first rumblings began many months ago, when the proliferation of blatant antisemitism in comments at LiveLeak, YouTube and an assortment of blogs and forums began to open my eyes.
As a member of the Global Zionist Conspiracy™ (although somewhat behind in my union dues), I was already aware that Jew hatred had been with us for some time, and that it still lingered in the shadows. What I was unprepared for was it’s seemingly sudden reemergence into the light, and welcome acceptance into mainstream political and social discourse.
During the intervening months, this new awareness caused me some consternation… and I found myself going in search of this filth.
You’d be amazed how easily one can locate vast resources of images, quotes and comments, videos, blogs and a variety of other propaganda blaming the Jews for everything up to, and including, the attacks of 9/11, AIDS, every global economic tremor and even weather patterns in the Middle East!
You’d be amazed, that is, if you had not already encountered this in your travels - and if you’ve been on the Internet for more than 15 minutes, you have.
In response to this, I have created a video presentation called "The Path To The Final Solution".
If you were not already aware of this resurgence of antisemitism, I hope this video will raise your awareness, and I hope you will aid me by sending it to your friends, family, co-workers and anyone who might benefit from seeing it.*
Due to the 10 minute time limit imposed by YouTube, I had to remove a large volume of material from this video, and I was forced to gloss over several notable items.
Among these is the organized Jew hatred practiced by the states that comprise the United Nations.
From the Soviet backed resolution equating Zinoism with racism, to the U.N. acceptance of a terrorist group (the PLO) as Israel’s equal, and the United Nations’ more recent response to the war instigated by Hezbollah in Lebanon, the community of nations has repeatedly sought to undermine Israel’s security and sovereignty.
Another subject I had insufficient time to address is the sheer volume of Jew hatred that can be found in recent comments at sites like YouTube, LiveLeak, and even here at The Jawa Report.
You’ve likely already encountered TJR’s resident Joo haters, but I’d like to share some of the "good thoughts" that members of YouTube and Live Leak have for those of the Jewish persuasion.
They are below the fold… and they are just a small sampling, a few drops in an ocean of hate.
Because this is not only important to me personally, but because it represents such a grave and growing danger to Jews world-wide, I’ll ask again:
Please help me to disseminate this video.
Send it to your friends and family. Post it in your blogs or on your MySpace pages. Send it to media outlets or influential bloggers. Just get it out there.
Thank you for your help with this.
*I am sure our resident Ron Paul supporters, in particular, will be most anxious to help me in this endeavor, and to do whatever they can to dispel the perception that Ron Paul is a racist, is supported by racists, and that he is capitalizing (literally) on the broad support of every hate monger, conspiracy theorist and isolationist in the country.
That Paul has successfully enlisted the support of so many fanatics, from such varying (and antithetical) groups as 60’s liberals and white supremacists is truly remarkable, and equally disturbing.
As Croatian clerical-fascist rock star Thompson’s Australian tour reaches its half-way mark, with the big question: will Immigration Minister Sen. Chris Evans do the right thing and rescind Thompson’s visa, which he granted with the remarkable proviso that Thompson “will be told that he must not ‘vilify, incite discord or represent a danger to the community’” [1] (which raises the question: why not just grant visas to armed suicide bombers as long as they promise not to set themselves off?), it is worthwhile noting that in Australia Thompson is currently playing to the children and grand children of serious Nazis.
JEWISH and Serbian community leaders have attacked a decision by Immigration Minister Chris Evans to grant a visa to controversial Croatian rock singer Marko Perkovic.
Senator Evans decided yesterday not to overrule a decision by his department to allow Perkovic to travel to Australia next week for a four-state concert tour sponsored by the Croatian community.
Perkovic will be told he must not “vilify, incite discord or represent a danger to the community” during his visit.
Senator Evans made the decision after departmental officers viewed footage of a concert by Perkovic in July in the Croatian capital, Zagreb. The footage shows fans using Nazi salutes and chanting “Kill the Serbs”.
Perkovic’s critics say his songs eulogise Croatia’s fascist World War II Ustashi regime, which killed 700,000 Serbs, Jews and gypsies. George Marinkovic, publisher of Melbourne’s Serbian Voice newspaper, said he was appalled by the visa decision.
“Here is the Labor Government, which got the votes of many Serbian people, betraying us,” he said.
B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission director Manny Waks said the Jewish community was dismayed. “It is very disappointing that as one of its first acts, the Labor Government is promoting a person who is a beacon for racists and neo-Nazis,” he said.
Perkovic will perform before 3000 fans at a concert in Melbourne’s Festival Hall next Saturday. He had been scheduled to perform at the Melbourne Knights Soccer Club premises, but the club cancelled the booking when it was revealed by The Australian in October.
Perkovic will also perform at the home of the Sydney United soccer team, the Croatian Sports Centre in Adelaide and the Burswood Theatre in Perth.
Senator Evans declined to comment yesterday.
Double standard: Aussie anti-vilification laws not enforced against sports hooligans or neo-Nazis
JEWISH leaders are divided over how to deal with the impending Australian tour of Croatian rock band Thompson.
While Manny Waks, executive director of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), has met with the immigration minister to request that Thompson band members be refused entry visas, Anton Block, president of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV), has said the band had a right to perform in Australia providing it does not break any laws.
Thompson is a nationalist band that openly supports the Ustashe – a pro-Nazi regime responsible for thousands of deaths – and its concerts around the world have been attended by audiences who wear Nazi insignia on their shirts. Reports also allege that Thompson crowds give Nazi salutes in response to some of the band’s more provocative songs.
With a sold-out Sydney concert on New Year’s Eve and concerts in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth commanding up to $100 per ticket, Thompson has a loyal following among Australia’s Croatian community.
Block said that Thompson does attract a controversial following, but providing it adheres to vilification and offensive behaviour laws, the band, which performed here in 2005, should be permitted to play.
“Thompson has in the past attracted a pro-fascist following who glorify in the symbolism of the dreaded World War II Balkan paramilitary group the Ustashe,” Block said.
“Thompson has a right to perform their music in Melbourne. However, we ask that they respect our laws and recognise that Nazi-era symbols are treated in Australia with the contempt and abhorrence that they deserve.”
Last week Waks met Immigration Minister Senator Chris Evans and Parliamentary Secretary Laurie Ferguson to discuss the issue. Evans told Waks he was personally looking into the matter of granting Marko Perkovic, lead singer of Thompson, a visa, and had requested a briefing from his department on the issue.
Waks said that despite the eventual outcome, the ADC was concerned that the Croatian community had invited the band and supported the tour.
The Geelong-based Australian Croatian Association is sponsoring the Melbourne leg of Thompson’s tour. A spokesperson for the club told a local Croatian community website that the concert is “definitely going ahead and we are very pleased that everything has been confirmed”.
News of Thompson’s tour comes less than a month after a function by neo-Nazi group Blood and Honour was held at the Melbourne Croatia Community Club.
Representatives from that club said they “regrettably” hired out their hall to Blood and Honour, but that “not a single member of the Croatian community” was at the concert.
After hiring its venue to Blood and Honour, the club representatives said they would be more diligent in checking the backgrounds of parties using their facility.
…but anti-vilification laws are used against Christian ministers who expose Muslim doctrine…
SERBIAN and Jewish community leaders are outraged that the social arm of the Melbourne Knights Soccer Club is hosting a concert by a Croatian rock star with a strong following among neo-Nazi sympathisers.
The revelation follows the club’s apology for staging a concert for neo-Nazi skinheads at its North Sunshine complex this month.
A concert by Marko Perkovic will be hosted by the Knights-affiliated Melbourne Croatia Social Club at the complex on December 28.
Perkovic, Croatia’s top rock star, uses the stage name Thompson, in honour of the American-issued sub-machinegun of the same name that he carried as a soldier in Croatia’s war of independence against Yugoslavia in the early 1990s.
George Markovic, the publisher of Melbourne’s Serbian Voice newspaper, said the Knights should steer clear of extremist elements.
“People in our community are thinking of the Knights as the Gestapo Club,” Mr Markovic said.
Mr Markovic said Perkovic had been granted visas for previous visits to Australia, while Serb singer Ceca Raznatovic has been denied a visa in 2005.
“It’s double standards,” he said.
B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission director Manny Waks said Perkovic’s visit reflected badly on the Knights and the Croatian community.
“It is unacceptable,” Mr Waks said.
The Weekend Australian reported on Saturday that Melbourne Knights chairman Matt Tomas had censured his club’s social arm for providing a venue for the October13 concert by skinhead rock bands.
Mr Tomas yesterday again expressed exasperation at the Croatia Social Club.
“I can understand why people are upset and just wish the social club would focus on its football identity,” he said.
Croatia Social Club committee member Ivan Skunca said the club was not concerned about outside criticism.
“The Serbs can say what they like. It doesn’t bother us,” Mr Skunca said.
Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said Perkovic had yet to submit a visa application, but it would be carefully considered.
Below is the first part of a three part brief from Emperor’s Clothes, arguing why Australia’s immigration minister, Sen. Chris Evans, must reverse his ruling granting visas to Marko Perkovic Thompson and his band, which grant was accompanied by the remarkable proviso that, while in Australia, Thompson refrain from racist outrages. The only problem is: Thompson is a racist outrage.
The present email is the first of three comprising the full brief. It includes video evidence that supporters at Thompson’s Sydney New Years Eve concert-celebration celebrated the Croatian Ustashe. But then, so do Thompson’s songs.
As noted in another article, in 1973 an Australian Labor Party leader stood up to the Ustashe.
Will the Labor Party’s current immigration minister stick with his pro-Ustasha ruling, and if so, will the current Labor Party tolerate it? We shall see. So far, not a peep of protest from Labor, and not a word of response to us from Evans. The opposition to Thompson in Australia has been politically weak, making it easy for Evans to issue his ruling.
Easy to rule; but afterwards one must live with one’s rulings.

Dear Senator Evans:
I am writing you because your office has, I hope unwittingly, perpetrated a miscarriage of justice, both de jure, in terms of Australian law, and de facto, as regards harmony among peoples, both in Australia and worldwide, the protection of which requires zero tolerance for fascism.
I am referring to your decision to permit the granting of visas to Marko Perkovic Thompson and his associates, enabling them to perform at concerts in Melbourne and Sydney on December 29 and 31, respectively, and, unless you rescind these visas, on January 5 and 6, 2008, in Adelaide and Perth.
In granting Thompson a visa, your office apparently warned him against “vilification” of various groups – his usual targets are Serbs, Jews and ‘non-whites.’ By attaching this unusual qualification, you have implied that, despite granting Thompson a visa, he in fact fails the ‘character test’ for granting visas under the Australian Migration Act of 1958.
Thompson does indeed vilify, but that is not all he does. His music teaches clerical-fascism, the Croatian Ustaša variety, imbuing fascist ideas with the power of rock. His purpose in coming to Australia is, at minimum, to strengthen the clerical-fascist element in the large Croatian-Australian community, which has had a Ustaša problem in the past. Thompson’s presence is therefore a serious danger.
It is in your power to rescind Thompson’s visa, or you may disregard the evidence that follows. In either case you will of necessity take a stand, not only regarding Thompson’s ‘character,’ but your own politics.
As we all know, some people in the world are angry and destructive, and many of those are on the Internet. These angry people exert a negative effect on anyone who has the misfortune to encounter them, even if it is only a feeling of fatigue and disgust. Some angry and destructive persons are genuinely dangerous.
The Internet is a tool that can be used for good or ill. The team at 1389 Blog is working hard to do some good: to use the Internet to confront and curb jihadism and expansionist Islam, and to provide knowledge and tools to others who are working to accomplish the same goals. We will never allow anyone to abuse the comments on this blog for the purpose of undermining this effort.
False accusations, mudslinging, and editorial discretion
We have grown especially weary and disgusted with haters who use blogs, comments, forums, Wikis, social news sites, or email to circulate false allegations against others - whether it be public figures, other bloggers, entire groups of people, or whomever else they hate. Despite claims of “fairness” and “impartiality,” disinformation has been planted throughout Wikipedia and other social media, where it becomes fuel for flame wars, mudslinging, and propaganda.
Typically, one or more responders will put in hours or days of unpaid effort to refute those accusations, but then, the malicious accuser simply goes elsewhere and starts the same process all over again.
We have other things to do besides responding to the same falsehoods again and again. If these miscreants can’t win the argument on facts and logic, they hope to win by shouting us down and wasting our time.
Yes - these haters have the right to post what they want - on their own blogs - and to face whatever consequences accrue. When haters commit libel, their victims may sue. When haters incite violence against the persons or groups that they hate, they have passed the boundaries of protected political speech, and we will do what we can to shut them down.
No one has the right to take advantage of other people’s blogs and websites to spew false accusations, obscenities, and bile in front of the readership that reputable bloggers and admins have worked so hard to earn. No one has the right to spam the comments or forum threads on someone else’s website for the purpose of interfering with that website or harassing its owners and participants.
Excluding malicious comments is not censorship - it is vital editorial discretion. No blog or forum administrator - or for that matter, no publisher or media producer - can, or should, publicize every response that comes in. Bigoted ranting, name-calling, bullying and threats, spam, obscenity, incoherent rambles, libel and slander, and ad hominemattacks, attract a lynch-mob mentality, drive away decent readers and participants, and expose the website or organization to repercussions, legal or otherwise. And the endlessly misused argumentum ad Nazium, a/k/a reductio ad Hitlerum, is a signal to readers that the argument has worn itself out, and that intelligent life has departed from that venue.
Oh, and by the way…
If you want to argue with us, you’d better be loaded for bear. We expect to see verifiable evidence and valid logic, presented in a clear and civil manner. Just for starters:
Calling us liars, racists, Nazis, or whatever else is evidence only of your incivility. Accusing us of being “racists” or “Holocaust deniers” or “fascists” merely because we do not accept your accusations against Jews, Israelis, Serbs, European conservatives, white Americans, or whomever it is you happen to hate, doesn’t cut it either.
Hearsay, rumors, innuendo, or unconfirmed urban legends, or something you thought you heard from a “friend of a friend,” does not make for sufficient evidence to back up an allegation.
Articles in Wikipedia are acceptable only for noncontroversial matters, such as technical background, computer and Internet history, and definitions of words and phrases (as shown here in the previous item). But when it comes to controversial political, religious, or historical issues, Wikipedia is far too vulnerable to vandalism, flame wars, and spin, and we generally cannot accept it as evidence. (See our Reference Material resource page, and Byzantine Sacred Art: Wikipedia, the Source of Disinformation, for more on Wikipedia spin jobs.)
For that matter, we roundly condemn Wikipedia’s self-righteous pretense of enforcing a neutral point of view. It is senseless to make a virtue out of amorality! When we write or blog, we do our best to gather and publish the whole truth and nothing but. There is no neutral ground between right and wrong, between good and evil, between truth and error. There is no room for diluting the truth by presenting falsehood alongside it, in an effort to appear “fair and balanced.” The devil has too many spokesmen already, and too many spokeswomen too!
Making patronizing remarks, such as claiming that you “pity” us, is nothing more than mudslinging disguised behind a false sense of moral superiority, and it will get your remarks flushed into the spam bucket without a second thought.
If you, or any of your sources have a vested interest in the issue that could affect credibility, we expect you to disclose it.
Just because you saw something in the mainstream media does not automatically mean it is true. Many stories, photos, and videos have appeared in the mainstream media and have later been shown to be planted by untrustworthy sources, staged, mislabeled, Photoshopped, or otherwise falsified. Check it first!
In particular, we will not post comments that contain racist or bigoted ranting, especially the anti-Semitic ranting and the Serb-bashing that seems to be plaguing the blogosphere these days. We don’t care how many times you have seen or heard the same piece of Serb-bashing or Jew-bashing or Israel-bashing in the blogosphere or even in the mainstream media. As we have just pointed out, this does NOT make it true, nor does it give you any right to repeat it here.
What’s a blogger or admin to do?
1389 Blog posts a comments policy and we enforce it consistently. Anyone with a modicum of common sense should already be aware of what is acceptable on this and most other blogs. But if you have any doubts, read it before you send us email or comment on this, or any other, post on this blog.
We encourage people to post comments or use the Contact Us form in our blog to expose injustice or other wrongdoing. We have no objection to leveling verifiable accusations against public officials or other culpable individuals, organizations, or governments. We have no objection to polemics or to strong opinions. We encourage readers to engage in vigorous debate and to point out any factual errors that we or other commenters might make. We also encourage readers to investigate and report suspicious incidents and criminal or terrorist activity, and to keep us up to date with that information. But if the accusations cannot be substantiated, the communication in question will be either refuted or deleted.
It is up to us, as bloggers and admins, to maintain civility in our part of the blogosphere. If we fail to make this effort, the better part (in both senses of the word) of our audience will leave. I suggest that it is time for each of us to set up and enforce our comment policies to stop that from happening. And when it comes to dealing with haters, I suggest that we take care neither to let malicious commenters spew their bile until everyone else gives up and lets the haters have the last word, nor to allow false accusations to stand unanswered in any of our comment or forum threads.

Dear Senator Evans,
I would like to urge you to deny visas to the neo-Nazi singer, Marco Perkovic, and his band, “Thompson,” who, according to this article, are scheduled to tour in Melbourne on December 29, 2007.
This individual draws huge crowds in Croatia with what amounts to a present-day Nazi rally, shouting to “kill Serbs,” and stirs them up to commit destructive acts after the concerts.

Dear [1389]
Thank you for your e-mail of 10 December 2007 to Senator the Hon Christopher Evans, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, concerning Mr Marko Perkovic, a singer from Croatia. Your letter has been referred to me for reply.
Australia’s temporary entry programme is administered on a global and non-discriminatory basis which requires decision-makers to apply the same legal criteria to all applicants regardless of the country in which they live or the nationality that they hold. All applications must be processed and decisions made in accordance with the Migration Act and Regulations.
As you may be aware, all visa applications are subject to the character provisions of the Migration Act 1958 (the Act). These provisions allow for the cancellation or refusal of a visa if a non-citizen is found to breach the character test due to their substantial criminal record, past and present criminal or past and present general conduct.
Mr Perkovic’s application to enter Australia will be assessed against his ability to meet the character requirements under section 501(6)(d) of the Act. This section specifically covers concerns of vilification or incitement of discord in the Australian community, allowing a visa to be refused on these grounds.
Thank you for bringing this matter to the Minister’s attention.
Yours sincerely
(Kruno Kukoc) Assistant Secretary Temporary Entry
