Dutch PM Geert Wilders’ movie, Fitna, is finally out!
However, actually being able to see the video is another matter. We will be tracking availability of the video, and censorship issues regarding the video, in this article.
Pulled from main and backup hosting sites…
Fitna has been pulled from the main site, http://www.fitnathemovie.com, on account of complaints. It has also been pulled from LiveLeak on account of threats against the staff.
fitna is available as bittorrent quite easily from various providers. I downloaded it in about 10 minutes. Try searching on “fitna bittorrent”
From EuropeNews:
Gates of Vienna keeps a list of alternative sites, torrent sites and translations. It is available at Google Video and many other places. The LiveLeak link will remain here, as the takedown message is instructive. This is what happens if our politicians do not stand up against intimidation. They’ve been rather frail this time, not least at the EU level.
So far, March 28, 2008 has been our best day ever for traffic on 1389 Blog. Is one of our stories “cutting-edge”? Heck no! Do we have some great piece of analytical work that our readers have been waiting for? Sorry, not that either. In fact, we must apologize about having been so slow at getting out some articles that our readership has been expecting.
No, people have been flocking to 1389 Blog to read two articles that are both over a month old. In fact, one of them is over two months old. But these old articles have suddenly become timely. How could that be?
Know the Truth and the Truth Shall Set You Free
1389 Blog exists for two purposes, to provide information to combat the current Islamic jihad against not only the US, but of all respectable civilization; and to provide technical help, tips, and assistance to the online counterjihad community. This does make us a bit unpopular in some circles.
We Are Not Politically Correct
There is a current fad of relativism and egalitarianism. Men and women must be equal, to the extent of being the same except for outward appearance. (But, for some strange reason, we are still using separate public restrooms!) All cultures are of equal value. (Of course, some cultures, like Southerners, Slavs and “Rednecks” of any kind, just are not quite as equal as the rest!) And all religions are more or less the same.
That last claim is the most puzzling. Contrary to what you might hear on the History Channel, the Mayan culture of Central America is still alive and well. True, they may no longer be in the pyramid building business, but take a trip to Guatemala and you should have little trouble finding someone who knows a priest in the Mayan religion. Now, it is a lucky thing for us that the Mayans are not demanding their religious rights to conduct human sacrifices. But that was once part of their religion.
I wonder what those who preach the modern gospel of political correctness would say if the Mayans were to return to their practices of human sacrifice. Would they scream that such a practice was “murder” and condemn the Mayan religious leaders for wanting to revert to it? Would they say that they personally opposed to human sacrifice, but consider human sacrifice to be a private matter within the Mayan community and oppose any government interference? Or would they finally realize that their own philosophy of political correctness is both illogical and morally bankrupt?
(Disclaimer! Present-day Mayan Indians do NOT want to return to this practice! This is merely a hypothetical example.)
We at 1389 Blog have consistently opposed the equally disgusting practices of jihadism to which many modern Muslims adhere. Yes, we get a lot of flack. However, these practices of jihad are every bit as disgusting as a rebirth of Mayan human sacrifice would be.
Geert Wilders Has the Platform
1389 Blog is just a small blog with about ten authors. Several of us have other works published. Most of those works are under names other than those used here. At present, we have no substantial platform that we can use to drive our point home.
The Price Paid by Theo Van Gogh
But then, having such a platform can be deadly proposition. Consider the fate of Theo Van Gogh. This is the movie, Submission, for which he gave his life:
Geert Wilders Refuses to be Silenced
The anti-jihad community has a new hero in the intrepid Dutch MP Geert Wilders. He has made a film, Fitna, that exposes modern-day Islam for the savage, cruel and barbaric death cult that it really is.
For obvious reasons, the crime against Theo Van Gogh figures prominently in Fitna.
Geert Wilders is so prominent that old articles bearing his name are drawing new readers out of the woodwork. We must selfishly thank Geert Wilders for the collateral benefit he has brought to 1389 Blog. However, we must wholeheartedly give him an altruistic thank you for helping to do more to spread the truth about radical Islam to the world than, in my opinion, 1389 Blog will ever be capable of doing.
The Jihadists’ Allies
Speaking hypothetically once again, if the Mayan Indians ever wanted to return to human sacrifice, or even to demand their right to do so, the would get little traction. I have been to Central America several times and have met a number of Mayan Indians. Yet, I know few people from the US, Canada, Europe, or even Israel who can say the same. Most of the people whom I encounter in the US do not even know that Mayan Indians still exist and still have solid communities.
So, the Mayan Indians would have few allies in their “struggles” to return to human sacrifice. Very few people would know of some wonderful Mayan Indians who they felt the need to stick up for in that regard.
(Disclaimer! The Mayan Indians in real life do NOT want to return to this practice! This is merely a hypothetical example.)
However, it is different with Muslims. Everyone knows and likes some Muslims. We all seemed to learn in school that Islam was one of those acceptable “Western” or “Abrahamic” religions, almost like Christianity and Judaism. We have all heard someone tell us that Allah must be the same God whom the Jews worship, or that Allah is equivalent to God the Father of the Christian Trinity.
What is at the root of this? We all want cheaper oil, and it seems logical to many that appeasing Muslims worldwide, and especially in the Middle East, would be a good way of guaranteeing our supply. We all have heard misguided people tell us that if Israel were not our “ally,” that the Muslims would all love us.
But the truth is far different. Islamic doctrine requires never-ending expansion so as to put the entire world under Sharia law. There is no room in Islam for anything other than itself. That’s what mainstream Islam is all about.
Thank You and Thank You
First of all, I would like to thank the Mayan Indians for helping me to make my point. I will be buying some of your shirts (a/k/a camisas tipicas) as soon as I see them for sale. Those shirts are a pleasant reminder of how the people of your culture do so well co-existing with the peoples of other cultures around you. True, there have been some failures in that regard, as we are all only human. However, I fully respect your culture, as I know you respect mine.
And thanks again to Geert Wilders for taking such a bold stand.
“So where can I see this Fitna movie?”
Note: Fitna has been pulled from the main site, http://www.fitnathemovie.com. It has also been pulled from LiveLeak on account of threats against the staff. This is frustrating, big time.
For this reason, we are hosting the video ourselves at 1389 Blog:
Wikileaks, a website that has brought to light many scandalous acts by giving whistleblowers a forum to expose wrong doing anonomously, has been ordered by US District Judge Jeffrey White of the Northern District of California to display blank pages and goes even further by barring them from redirecting traffic to offshore servers. It also bars them from transfering ownership of the domain name wikileaks.org. Once again, a Bush appointed judge has over-extended the government’s conrtrol over our essential freedoms. If ever there were any doubt about our Constitution being under attack, this would be a shining example.
Wikileaks was founded in 2006 by people from a host of countries, including the US, Taiwan, Europe, Australia and South Africa. It has generated headlines by hosting documents exposing several high-profile scandals, including those related to the collapse of the UK’s Northern Rock bank and to prisons in Iraq and and Guantanamo Bay. The site says it has posted more than 1.2 million documents.
In the case in dispute, Wikileaks claimed a bank located in the Cayman Islands engaged in money laundering and tax evasion. The latest agreement came in a lawsuit brought by Bank Julius Baer, the parent company of the accused Cayman bank. After trying unsuccessfully to get Wikileaks to remove the documents, Swiss-based Julius Baer went after Dynadot, the California web hosting company, which according to this copy of the court order [PDF], agreed to roll over in exchange for the suit against it being dismissed. Dynadot also agreed to turn over records related to Wikileaks, including “IP addresses and associated data used by any person, other than Dynadot, who accessed the account for the domain name”. Wikileaks claims that it is an “uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis”. But this is true only if its webhosts can be trusted not to pull the plug on its customers or divulge sensitive client information.
Wikileaks lawyers were given only a few hours notice of this latest hearing, and amazingly the judge allowed the hearing to proceed and issued the injunction without hearing any counter-claim from Wikileaks lawyers. One would hope that this type of shotgun injunction will be overturned on appeal based on the patent unfairness of the proceedings. It would also appear that the court is engaging in what amounts to Government sanctioned censorship. It all is a fascinating story to follow.
Wikileaks has also been banned in China and Thailand. Apparently they have pissed off many rich and powerful people around the world. It will be interesting how this plays out in the U.S. courts, as I’m sure this is only round number one. Stay tuned for more on this one…..

Shortly after FHK launched we began searching for ways to increase our rankings on the search engines. The prevailing wisdom was that one good way to do this is to maintain a blogroll (that’s the ridiculously long list of blogs in the sidebar of many blogs), as it is a good way for bloggers to exchange much needed “links,” increase their link count, and move up in the ratings.
There were a few “monster” blogrolls that everyone was trying to get on, and I had one particular one in mind. I e-mailed, and begged and pleaded, and finally, the administrator of the blogroll heard my cries and added Ft. Hard Knox to his blogroll. I was so excited, because I was sure my ratings would double over night. Afterall, Ft. Hard Knox had just been added to every major blogroll in the conservative blogosphere! So I watched Technorati…and watched…lost some sleep watching that night…and guess what?! I didn’t get one single link on Technorati as a result of being added to that HUGE blogroll.
To make matters worse, my link count on Technorati actually started dropping over the next few weeks.
Something had to be wrong…I checked around, and sure enough, the blogroll administrator had done everything correctly. We were there - on all of these blogrolls, but the links weren’t being counted on Technorati. The blogroll administrator was using the popular blogroll service, Blogrolling, which is also the one we were using.
So I began researching. To my disappointment, I learned that blogroll links contained within javascript are no longer counted on Technorati, and neither are any links over six months old. So, no only were we not getting additional links from being added to the blogroll, but links from the bloggers I’d convinced to trade links with us six months ago were dropping off.
What to do?
Fortunately, we use Wordpress for our blog, and I’ve checked, and the links from the Wordpress blogrolls ARE still counting on Technorati (the other search engines like Google are harder to gauge, because they are not up-front about how their calculations are performed).
If you have a bunch of blogrolls on Blogrolling, you can simply use the OPML code from those blogrolls to import your links to Wordpress.
That’s easier than it sounds.
Log in to Blogrolling
Click “Get Code” under the blogroll you want to import to Wordpress
Scroll down to “OPML” and click “Click to select the code”
Log in to your Wordpress blog, and go to the Dashboard
Mouseover “Blogroll,” then click “Import Links” on the drop-down menu
Under “Specify an OPML URL:” paste the OPML code you just copied from Blogrolling
Click on the “Import OPML File” button
That’s it…the links will appear on your blogroll. If you’re consolidating more than one Blogrolling blogroll, you may now need to weed through you Wordpress blogroll and delete the duplicates. Within a day or two, your links will be showing on your blog friends’ link counts on Technorati.
Now, all you have to do is convince your friends to reciprocate the favor. Again. Good luck.
EuropeNews has been under attack, causing the pages to load slowly or not at all. This is verified to be a botnet attack, coming from Russia. After the relevant IP addresses have been blocked, EuropeNews is now running again.
A Turkish hacker team by name of AyYildiz Team (Crescent and Star Team) has attacked various German sites. More information on Earth Times.
We have found that AyYildiz have paid attention to EuropeNews before and may have directed the attack against EuropeNews. What is known for sure is that the attack was a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack coming from obscure addresses in Russia, probably a botnet. Blocking those addresses gave our server breathing room again, and all is normal.
Also, our log indicates a (failed) hacking attempt against us.
The attackers would need a fresh botnet to resume the attack. That is not completely impossible, but we have more experience now and expect any future attacks to be fended off quickly.
The attack seems to be part of a hacker attack wave related to a fire in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in an apartment inhabited by a Turkish family. Claims of arson have been thrown around, nothing proven.
Unsurprisingly, the Turkish government is exploiting the event to the max. Zaman report.
The implications are explored in this Spiegel report.
The latest assumption about the cause of the fire is that it may have been caused by tinkering with the electrical installations. From Fact - Fiction blog (German). Thus, possibly the fault of the inhabitants, not an attack.
False accusations of racist hate attacks constitute blood libel.
Revenge through Internet attacks will be published as widely as possible. We will not give in to assorted Turkish bullying.
The Ludwigshafen fire and Turkish reactions
However, the DDoS is the least interesting bit. What is more sinister is the background and the behaviour of the Turkish politicians, who immediately reacted by trying to smear the Germans as a bunch of killer racists and, by implication, the *Turkish* politicians as the true protectors of Turks in Germany.
That included a Turkish minister visiting the place of the fire and lots of official statements recalling the racist arson attack in 1993, implying that now a new wave of racist attacks against Turks is looming. To show their distrust, a Turkish investigation team was sent to control the work of the Germans - very unusual behavior.
All this is based on a tiny grafitti on the entrance door “HASS”, which they take to mean it’s a hate attack. Given the rampant grafitti situation in Germany, and not least in run-down city part like this, there’s absolutely no firm reason to interpret a simple bit of evidence as conclusive proof about racism. This is far-fetched, and it is a severe case of libel, too.
This play by the Turkish politicians also ignores the fact that the firefighters were doing a marvelous job, that the cause of the fire is still unknown after four days of investigation - including Turks specifically looking for arson - and it skips the little detail that the 1993 attack was extensively exploited by Turkish investment groups to discourage Turks in Germany from investing their hard-earned money in Germany. Later these Turkish investement groups went into suspicious bankruptcies, netting AKP-connected businessmen (and probably AKP itself) a whopping 25 billion euro.
Further, the performance of the Turkish politicians posing as the protectors of Turks in Germany is a divisive move eerily similar to the events in the 60’s that eventually led to the division of Cyprus. This is counterproductive to integration but fits well with the “special role” Erdogan assigns the Turkish diaspora in Europe. We are on the edge of insurgencies in many places, latest in Cologne.
Connecting the dots is an interesting art. But one easily ends up with rather unpleasent results, and I’m scratching my head over this: Is it really this dangerous?
In any case, it would be wise for the German politicians to simply reject the Turkish demands. By any measure, the German justice system is much better than the Turkish one, Turkish anti-minority crimes are rampant anyway, and German fire technicians are perfectly capable of determining the cause of fires, and the undue interference of Turkey into German matters are a severe breach of diplomatic etiquette that deserves no reward, only rejection.
Erdogan deserves the humiliation of being rejected by the German politicians. Will they show enough spine to do so?
Europe News, a joint Danish-German news and opinion aggregating service, suffered a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack yesterday initiated by Turkish hackers, temporarily incapacitating their site.
It may be that the above link is not working. That’s because the Europe News site was brought down entirely during the night. Since then service to it has been restored intermittently, but it’s not back to full operations yet.
Henrik, who runs the English-language half of Europe news, sent me this account of recent events:
The leading Islam-critical news aggregator EuropeNews has been attacked and knocked off the Internet, along with Politically Incorrect and several other blogs. Yesterday, February 7th, we faced a botnet attack out of Russia, which overloaded and crippled our servers. We weathered that by blocking the IP addresses involved. Today, February 8th at 13:50 CET, our server was knocked out entirely. Right now, 15:45, we are online again.
We do not know yet what exactly has happened. A Turkish hacker team by name of AyYildiz Team (Crescent and Star Team) has attacked and defaced roughly a hundred German sites. More information on Earth Times. The group, according to Netcraft, moves to a fresh server every few months. Part of their ethos is to never attack any Turkish web sites.
The attack seems to be motivated by a fire in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in a house inhabited by Turkish families. The fire had wide publicity, not least by a sensational rescue of a baby falling down four stories. The fire brigade is reported to have done a great job at the scene, but nonetheless nine persons succumbed to the rapid fire in the century-old building.
The fire, however, has escalated to a diplomatic crisis between Germany and Turkey, as claims of arson have been thrown around, nothing proven. (ABC News report; Guardian report. More details in this Spiegel report.) Unsurprisingly, the Turkish government is exploiting the event to the max. Zaman reports, like every other Turkish media.
The latest assumption about the cause of the fire is that it may be due to tinkering with the electrical installations. From Fact — Fiction blog (German).
False accusations of racist hate attacks constitute blood libel.
Revenge through Internet attacks will be publicized as widely as possible, and dealt with to the full extent of the law. We will not give in to assorted Turkish bullying.
EuropeNews is back online after 7 hours of downtime. The DDoS attack of yesterday was averted, but today the server was knocked out solid. We are still analyzing the exact cause of the event.
We’re alive and kicking, so please enjoy the articles.
Tayyip Erdogan, the leader of Turkey, the man who said that Turkey was using democracy like people use a bus to reach their destination, the man who maintains that there is no difference between islam and islamism, that there is only one islam, will visit Germany on February 10th. Huge billboards are all over the place. Most of them are entirely in turkish language and desecrate the official German flag.
Why?
In the German city of Ludwigshafen, an apartment fire in a building inhabited by turks and kurds only, has cost the lives of several inhabitants. Without even a shred of evidence or the beginning of a reasonable suspicion, the Turkish press and Turks in Germany in unison with the usual leftist do-gooders have concluded, a day after the fire, that this was a politically motivated arson by German right wing extremists. A Turkish delegation will come to Germany to investigate.
Official numbers of muslims (mainly Turks) in Germany are pegged at 3.5 million. Unofficial numbers are between 5 and 6 million. Emotions about the fire are rising right now. German natives do not seem to be upset about the desecration of their flag and the inspection visit of the Turkish leader yet. Via internet, young turks and Germans are trading barbs, accusations and racial insults.
(hat tip and pic: PI)
UPDATE: ARD state TV reports that the fire in Ludwigshafen seems to be due to the theft of electrical power from in house power lines, circumventing the power company counter!
…Also, I wish to let you know that I’m the Director of the Free Kareem Coalition. Kareem Amer is an Egyptian blogger who was sentenced to 4 years in prison for writing posts critical of Islam and the Egyptian government. This coming Feb 22nd, it will be a full first year since he was officially sentenced, even though he was in prison for a year and 3 months now (3 of these months, he was imprisoned with no official charge or trial.)
On this date, we are organizing a worldwide op-ed day. Basically, this means that many people around the globe will be writing about Kareem’s case in order to increase awareness on it and making the Egyptian government realize that we have not forgotten this brave, young, innocent man whose only crime is free speech.
Also on this date, 2 rallies will be taking place: One in France and the other in Washington DC. Last year, we organized 3 worldwide rallies which took place everywhere from Brazil to India to Romania. Over 20 cities were involved and thousands wrote about it on their blogs.
This year however, since our last rally just took place in November, we are trying to take another approach and directly target the media to help keep Kareem in people’s minds and prayers.
I hope you can get involved in any way, at least by posting something about it on your blog. We could really use the help in spreading the word.
