2/5/2013: Humble Appeal to Save Another Youth from Kosovo

Beloved in Christ our Lord,

May our Gracious God always bless you!

The current situation in Kosovo/Metohija is even more hazardous and dangerous for Orthodox Christian men, women and children then it was formerly was.

The harassment of the Serbian population in this area along with the related destruction and desecration of Orthodox Churches and Cemeteries continues unabated but has escalated in recent months.

I have been to Kosovo/Metohija and other parts of the Balkans six times and fourteen years ago founded the Decani Monastery Relief Fund which has provided material and financial aid to the beleaguered and destitute population there.

The recipients of this letter are well aware of all the good deeds and works our fund and supporters have done for the suffering Christians in this area. We have been very effective and we intend to continue our efforts!!

A few years I added a different and really unique aspect to the works being done in Kosovo/Metohija by our fund.

Our fund and our Church in Boise, Idaho brought a young Serbian Orthodox student from Kosovo to Boise to attend Boise State University.

Lazar Popovic has through his intelligence and hard work prospered in Boise and will graduate from BSU in December 2013. Amazing!!

The support of many individuals throughout the world has been an important and crucial part of Lazar’s success story.

Now we are also seeking to bring Lazar’s younger brother Stefan Popovic to Boise. Their family – who live in Kosh, Kosovo – is extremely worried for Stefan and wants him to have the same opportunities to build a real future for himself as Lazar has done. They want to save Stefan’s life.

We plan to have Stefan attend the College of Western Idaho in Nampa, Idaho which is less expensive then Boise State University. The expenses for the first year are $8,000.00 and include books and tuition and daily living expenses. The cost will be less the second year and Stefan and Lazar will live together to save additional monies.

Our parish Church has set up a Benevolent Fund to support Lazar and Stefan. We already have saved one young person. We need now to save his kid brother. Help these fine young men and help bring peace of mind to their loving family.

Please make your thoughtful and loving donations on behalf of Lazar and Stefan to:
