Fr. Nektarios Serfes at a vandalized Serb grave in Kosovo

All to Note:

Folks, this is a photo [source] of Fr. Nektarios Serfes standing next to a vandalized and destroyed Serb grave within Kosovo, with the Serb body removed. What’s to be done about that?

Being disinterested, intimidated, uninvolved, or quietly diplomatic, doesn’t cut it. So, how to get the truth out into the open? Any ideas?

Lavrov bashes the West for ignoring Kosovo vandalism

Russia has criticized the West for its indifference towards outrageous acts of vandalism against Serbian tombs in Kosovo, Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

“We have been disappointed at how our Western partners have been dealing with acts of vandalism against Serbian tombs, especially considering the fact that vandalism has been committed against the tombs of WWII veterans,” Mr. Lavrov said on the heels of his meeting with Macedonia’s foreign chief Nikola Poposki.

Sergei Lavrov described this tendency as an attempt to rewrite the history of World War Two.

Speaking on the issue of political stability in the Balkans, Mr. Lavrov said Moscow was against “redrawing European borders.”

“It’s important to follow key provisions of the Helsinki Final Act,” he said, adding that the Balkans had seen a lot of bloodshed over the past few decades.

This website talks about this happening in 2003.

So let me get this straight; they are getting rid of the graves and bodies so that people will not remember the Serbian people, their culture and history in the region? Is this correct?

@Cao,

Yes, exactly.

It happened during the pogroms in 2003 and it is happening again now.

The pogroms were in 2004, in March, I believe around St. Patrick’s Day (17th), but before and after that there was continual destruction of Serbian shrines, graves, homes, property.

I think the Serbs there need to do more large scale protesting about the Albanian’s destructiveness in Kosovo and lack of basic human rights. They need to protest at the U.S. Embassy and other embassies which support and back the Albanians. If large enough numbers would persistently protest it would start to hassle the foreigners and something would be said or done about it – it would increase the chances to be in the news.
Serbs in Serbia are too passive about what is happening to Kosovo Serbs all these many years.
