Blog admin 1389 (that’s me) started this blog just over five years ago, on April 22, 2007, as a casual experiment to find out what blogging was all about. For some time, I had been commenting on behalf of the Counterjihad in various public forums, including Twitter, LGF (once a more-or-less conservative/counterjihad forum. whose proprietor began his downward spiral into corruption and insanity shortly after I joined), Digg (from which I was banned three times), and StumbleUpon. My first thought was to blog links to news items of interest to the techie/IT community, along with my own comments and advice, but I quickly branched out into conservative/counterjihad topics, particularly free speech for the counterjihad. Fellow blog admin CzechRebel and others soon joined me in this effort.
In June, 2007, this blog moved from Google Blogger to independent hosting, using the open-source WordPress content management system. We did this because we found that other counterjihad bloggers, including our longtime friends and colleagues at Gates of Vienna, were forced to contend with censorship from Google. Because CzechRebel and I, as well as our other team members, claim the right to push the envelope with regard to acceptable topics for political debate, we decided very early on to take this step to ensure our freedom from corporate political correctness. Yes, it does cost some money, as well as ongoing extra effort, to set up and maintain the blog under our own domain name and independent hosting. But because of the likelihood of losing some followers and subscribers when migrating from a free hosting service to one’s own domain name, we thought it best to make that migration sooner, rather than later.
